Guillen was engaged by Citizen, a Portland-based mobile innovation company as a senior consultant. In her consulting role, she was tasked with helping an internal AT&T team integrate video into a unified communications project on a tablet.
The AT&T team was new to product development. Guillen helped to define the design process and created the initial product flow and interface design.
The design goal was to combine several communication methods such as text, voice calls and voice memos into an application. The user needed to be able to have several conversations running at the same time. For example, he could be on a conference call with his management team but still able to answer incoming IM questions from colleagues who didn’t attend the meeting without having to switch applications, simply by shifting UI elements.
